Welcome to Central Alabama Southern Gospel Music Association (C.A.S.G.M.A.) web site. We hope that you will find the information interesting and informative.
Let us first start with telling you a little bit about C.A.S.G.M.A. This association was founded in 1993 and located in Central Alabama (around Montgomery). It is a non-profit organization. We have our monthly meetings that are held the first Tuesday night of each month at 7 pm at Beacon Of Hope Church Of God in Montgomery AL.
Our main purpose is to promote and preserve Gospel Music while helping groups and soloists develop their ministries in Gospel Music. We have by-laws and guidelines that we go by. We have officers that hold positions, various committees that perform different tasks. We have a monthly newsletter that we publish with information on things that are going on within the association, as well as information on other Gospel singings and events in the area. There are Quarterly singings that are held on the 4th Friday night, in different locations throughout the state. We put together an annual convention that is held in April (usually the 3rd Saturday) each year. The convention concerts consist of C.A.S.G.M.A. artists along with special guests. We cast ballots that members and fans vote on in different categories for awards to be given out at the convention. Two such awards are the prestigious Emma Myrick and Harvey Gilmer awards. These awards were named in memory of two members of the association that were faithful warriors in Christ’s service, that helped to promote Gospel Music, even with badly failing health, they pressed forward attending singings anywhere and everywhere they could to be of support to all the groups. We have an annual Christmas party each year that is a blast to attend! We’re always looking for more ways to promote the Gospel in song. If you would like to become a member of our association, whether you are a soloist, duet, trio, quartet, ensemble or would like to become a fan, you may request information from Johnny Baker at thebakers1105@knology.net or come by our monthly meeting the first Tuesday of the month.
